My impression of a colorful hot air balloon created with beads of authentic Murano glass. The large bead (or "balloon") is blown by mouth by master craftsmen in the furnaces of Murano, Italy. As a blown bead, it is hollow, keeping the beads light and easy to wear. The beads feature transparent stripes of red-orange and yellow with crisp black lines. The smaller cube bead (or "basket") is yellow Moretti Murano glass over 24kt foil.
I've carefully wire-wrapped these beads together with tarnish-resistant Argentium sterling silver, allowing the smaller bead to swing easily from the larger one. They are hung on my own hand-forged Argentium ear wires.
- Large Murano Glass Bead: Approximately 15 mm (0.6 inches) in diameter
- Small Glass Bead: Approximately 6 mm (.24 inches)
- Length: The earrings dangle approximately 2.25 inches (57 mm) from the tops of the ear wires
